I am not saying these are the only ways to earn extra income. But for me, these are the ones I can do on my own time and get the best results. I am in no way an expert in any of these areas, but I can tell you, they have helped this single mother in so many ways.

1) Online Surveys
This method may not be your favorite, but it is so easy! Get started here earning some decent money taking surveys. The great thing is most can be done on your phone…and aren’t we one our phones the majority of the time anyway throughout the day.
This site is the most effective and easiest to use. You get your direct deposit quickly. The surveys are mobile friendly. The surveys are quick too. If you work full time, take a few surveys on your lunch break. Or right before your shower or bed time, take a survey or two. The great thing about Inbox surveys is you can take the surveys anywhere and gain decent amounts of money. Earn anywhere from $.10 to $5 or even more per offer and/or survey. Use my link to sign up

This next one is new to me, but it is very effective if you do it right. I won’t talk about starting a blog much in this post, but I have some links and tips to get you going.
2) Start your own blog
So many people think that starting a blog is time consuming and difficult; while it’s not easy, it’s certainly not difficult to get going. It will take some time, but with these few tips, I hope you will get going.
- Find a topic you are able to educate, inspire or motivate
This one is important with so many blogs out there, make one that will stand out, and one that you know you can talk about with little effort on your part.
- Think about your audience
This one goes hand in had with the first topic. Who are you trying to reach? This will help you also in thinking about what your blog will be about. These two can be easy if it’s something you’ve been thinking about for a while.
- Self-hosted is the only way to go!
If you are trying to monetize your blog, make sure you are using a self-hosted WordPress site. Trust me on this! Don’t do a free site if you want to make some money.
I recommend DreamHost for hosting and here’s why
- Cost! As a single mother and being the only income, I couldn’t dump a whole lot of money at once. DreamHost is the only one I saw that let me pay monthly instead of all upfront for a year subscription. They have different plans. This is the plan I recommend is right here.
Here is another option if you want a few more features with your Dreamhost
- Control! Self hosting allows you to control all of your content. Unlike free host sites, you can control everything from what your page theme will be to your domain name. With DreamHost, you get to choose your own domain name, and it’s short (i.e. https://www.thedifferentmomblog.com). If you choose a free host site your domain will be super long and hard for your guest to remember
And last, I recommend DreamHost as a host because of
- Support! They offer some form of support 24/7. You can contact them via chat and they are extremely quick and helpful.
Just remember to choose a paid host versus a free host. You’ll thank me later when it comes to earning money on your blog.
A great way to Get paid for your great content is to become an affiliate. This will allow you to promote, discuss, products, and get paid from several merchants that approve of your blog. The Affiliate site I recommend is

This will get you connected with tons of merchants you can apply to be an affiliate for. I highly recommend doing this, if you’re interested in earning money with your blog.
